Yesterday afternoon, Ms. Chen from Guangdong sent a commendation saying:
‘Madam, I was quite busy during the first two days of opening and didn’t get a chance to thank you. Thank you and your colleagues for your hard work during this period, which allowed us to open smoothly on Qixi Day.
The effect of the elliptical cabinets is excellent; many customers have commented on how good they look. I am very grateful to you and your colleagues.’
Manufacturing high-quality display cabinets will naturally garner unanimous praise, much like delicious food or beautiful music – excellence is universally recognized. It would be unimaginably difficult to force customers and clients to praise a subpar product.
Ms. Chen's store is her third branch, with the previous two stores having established a solid reputation over 30 years. It’s impressive that she has evolved from a goldsmith shop into a brand with its own identity over the past three decades. The design process for this store began three months ago, and she personally oversaw the design and revision of the drawings herself. After several drafts were finalized, she engaged another display cabinet manufacturer in Shenzhen, who offered a lower price than ours, but ultimately chose us.
The order was placed at our factory at the end of June. However, the production process was not smooth, as the cabinets were elliptical and thus particularly challenging to manufacture. We encountered issues twice with the gaps between the metal frames and glass being too wide, even to the point where some parts wouldn't fit together. With the deadline (the store had to open on Qixi Day) approaching, I felt almost overwhelmed, barely able to sleep at night.
What could we do? Given my nature, delivering substandard products to clients was out of the question. Even if it meant incurring higher costs, we had to meet our factory's quality standards. Some colleagues suggested that since time was tight, it might be acceptable to deliver the cabinets as they were, prioritizing the store's opening. They argued that redoing the work would double the cost and might still not meet the deadline, which would result in greater losses.
After some deliberation, we held an internal meeting and contacted suppliers to expedite the remanufacturing process, delaying other orders by two days. Of course, employees were reluctant, as no one enjoys repeating tasks, but I had to insist on their cooperation.
To ensure timely delivery, we stayed closely involved with every step of the suppliers' processes. Although we strive for standardization in our custom products, sometimes issues arise outside of the usual procedures, requiring special handling. Eventually, the goods were delivered safely and arrived at the site, where we aimed to assemble the cabinets two nights before Qixi Day.
Since the interior decoration was not done by our factory, there were discrepancies between the handcrafted arches in the wall niches and our machine-made components. The on-site workers couldn’t resolve these issues by the next morning, so we urgently dispatched a supervisor from the factory to handle them. On the day of the soft opening, one side of the store featured empty niches while the other was ready to welcome customers. In this urgent situation, I stayed on-site all day to oversee how our colleagues resolved these issues.
Each experience brings growth, and thankfully, the opening proceeded without any delay.'
This experience highlights the importance of perseverance, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality, even when faced with challenging circumstances.
